TITLE : The Efficient Stewardship Of Time 4
Ephesians 5:15-17 " So, then, be careful how you live. Do not be unwise but wise, making the best use of your time because the times are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is." ISV
REEDEMING THE TIME
The phrase "redeeming the time" means to take ownership and control of your time, to convert it into opportunity to fulfill your purpose, to design your days to create value in your life.
You have been entrusted with necessary and effective resources as a steward. God expects that you take advantage of these resources to yield increase (fruitful and multiply) and to serve others. (1 Peter 4:10). As stewards we are expected to serve others with our gifts. This include your time. Time is so powerful, that whatever you invest your time in, you become. You are a gift from God to the church and to the world. What you feel about this is not so important as to what you do about it.
For the drifter, do not keep what you can do today for tomorrow. Tomorrow itself has its assignment. A proper knowledge of these rules will help you rule your time thereby ruling your life. Because it is either you run your day or your day will run you. You must gain mastery over time or else it will gain mastery over you.
A knowledge of yourself is of paramount importance to effective time management. Know yourself, it is the key to effective time management. In other word, find out when you are most energetic and effective. Also, know the areas you are best fitted for and stick to it.
Reedeming the time speaks in relation to season, that is, the time of action. It is not enough to know WHAT to do, it is also important to know WHEN to do it. In his book, The 21 irrefutable laws of leadership, the #1 leadership expert in the world, Dr. John Maxwell illustrates the outcome of every move a leader makes with respect to time.
*Wrong Action at Wrong Time = Disaster
*Right Action at Wrong Time = Resistance
*Wrong Action at Right Time = Mistake
*Right Action at Right Time = Success
Effective people management begins from effective self-management which is born from effective time management. Self-management tells on your ability to properly discipline yourself because discipline makes you a star in your discipline. You can only control your time (life) if you can control yourself.
Beloved, Let this be the last year you waste this resource of time. Repent of the bad decisions and choices you’ve made and ask God to help you make the right decisions in the new year.
Prayer : Lord give me the courage and grace to make hard decisions that may hurt me, some habits that I need to cut away.
