TITLE : RELATIONSHIPS 101 PART 3
Relationship is a love affair.
Today i want to turn your atttention to the word love. Become a people person or lover. That's the first leadership lesson. People are at the center of all leadership efforts. Leaders cannot lead unless they love the people they are leading. Hmmmm Where is your heart when it comes to leadership? What is your motive? Do you desire to be a leader because of it's perks and benefits, fame or because of a passionate or consuming love for the people? Great leaders are lovers. I'm not talking about the Titanic, Romeo & Juliet kind of love. Oh no!! (coughs)....loooolzzz far from it.
Building a strong relationship with people around should be a top priority if you want to excel as a leader. If you’re a leader you should know that people value a love relationship with you as much as they value your talents, charisma, skills and expertise or principles, recognition, promotions and often, even pay if you're a business leader. Life is all about relationship. Why do you think Jesus Christ came and died for humanity? Someone said to take us to heaven or save us from hell? no! Jesus died for humanity so we can have a relationship with God our father. Amen. That's the power of a love relationship beloved.
Love - Heart Of Leadership
Leadership is influence and you can't influence people if you don't have a relationship with them. In fact I believe your amount of influence on anyone is proportional to the strength or depth of your relationship with the person. “The heart of leadership is putting others ahead of yourself and that can only be achieved if you're a lover.
Are you a lover or a visionary?
The leaders with the strongest teams are also the ones who aren't afraid or timid to show they care. The greatest mistake a leader can make is to talk convincingly is to put your highest priority, vision, ideas, goals and feelings. What most people want is to be loved or cared for. People want to work with leaders who loves them and want to hear them out. When was the last time you told someone in your group you love them? I mean personally now. Have You Told Them Lately That You Love Them?
Some leaders are so obsessed with work, vision and personal ambition that they neglect to build relationship. You need people to achieve any great vision so why do we place our vision or goal more important than the people? People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision. How do you get team members to buy into you as a leader? By loving, serving them and adding value to their lives. I've said this before "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." I think you should read that statement over and over again or write it somewhere on your jotter.
Always remember, "the heart comes before the hand." What do I mean by that statement? Let me explain. You first have to touch people's heart by your passionate love for them before you ask them for a hand(work). Commitment and loyalty is borne out of love. You can't force it. That is the law of connection...you can't move people to action(work) unless you first move them with emotion (love). Work is fun when love is present, you don't feel pain when you're in love. Here lies the golden truth. The heart (love) comes before the hand (work). There is a huge lot of sermon hidden in that statement.
Action point : Tell at least five people you love them so much and expect their reaction.
