Where there is no revelation (revealing of a vision) the people cast off restraint NHEB
Welcome to 2017, it is my delight that this new will stir a sense of purpose in you and that you are empowered to pursue your vision. Thanks for your awesome comments, feedbacks, encouragement about this online devotional.
In the last episode I shared with you the the necessity of capturing a vision as a leader. Leadership is useless without a vision because a leader exist to fulfill a specific vision in life.
If you missed the first episode of this teaching you can easily read it here http://thegodtm.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-power-discipline-of-vision-for-new.html
Today I want to share briefly with you the subtle connection between vision and discipline.
King Solomon said "where there is no vision, people perish.." In other words a leader dies when there is no vision. Vision is what gets your leadership potential and capacity activated.
What happens where there is no vision??
Our anchor kjv text says the result of lack of vision in a man's life is perish. The word perish in English means to die, cease to exist but that's not exactly what this verse is really telling us.
TO PERISH MEANS........
The word "perish" in this context does not mean "die". It is translated from the Hebrew word "para". It means to to be loosened, let loose, to show lack of restraint, to show lack of self control, a removal of moral restraints. Restrain in simple terms means discipline or self control.
In essence, to perish means to show lack of discipline. A little definition of what this proverb means is " where there is no vision (revelation of the future) people show lack of discipline, throw or cast off restraint. I love the way NLT and HCSB renders this verse . It says where there is no vision, people run wild. Oh that's heavy!!!
The gist of these teaching is that effective leaders have vision and the result of vision is that it produces self discipline. According to this prov 29:18 text we can deduce the following:
* Vision is the source of personal discipline.
* Vision is the motivation of leadership.
* Vision is the motivation of discipline.
* Discipline is the result of vision.
* Discipline is the root of leadership.
* Vision produces discipline.
* Vision - Discipline equals ILLUSION.
Vision is so powerful because it motivates, disciplines and control your life as a leader. That's the biblical connection between vision and discipline in leadership. The key to leadership is capturing a vision that imposes discipline on you. In essence, vision is the the source of discipline and the root of leadership.
A man or woman with a clear vision for their lives, live a narrow (disciplined) life. They restrain themselves for the sake of their vision while people without vision live very loose.
Beloved, this is another year to revision i.e to clarify, test, authenticate, update your vision. Not all good vision are godly vision but all godly vision are good vision. A godly vision will produce self discipline in a leader. Discipline is a nature that attracts people to leaders.
Do you have a vision that imposes discipline?
Seed : Lack of vision results in indiscipline.
