TITLE : THE POWER OF CONSISTENCY 2
I Corinthians 15:58 ISV
"Therefore, my dear brothers, be consistent, steadfast, unmovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that the work that you do for the Lord isn't wasted"
The highest calling of leadership is personal growth and development. When it comes to personal growth: Motivation gets you going, but consistency keeps you growing. It doesn’t matter how talented or gifted you are. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities you receive. If you want to grow, consistency is the key. You can't truly grow if you aren't consistent. There is something to do to grow. For instance if you want to lose excess weight, you have to be consistent about your eating habit, regular exercise of your body e.t.c. Our future is dependent upon our personal growth. Improving yourself daily guarantees you a future filled with power and possibilities. When you expand yourself, you expand your horizons, your options, your opportunities, your potential.
Jim Tressel once said "the hallmark of excellence, the true test of greatness, is consistency". How many times have you went to some kind of motivational conference, seminar or a Christian program, applied what you learned for a few days, and then forgot all about it? What you thought would be a life changing event was nothing more than a temporary escape from your every day routine. I know this happens to me a lot. I’ll read a great book or watch an awesome video, have big plans on implementing everything I learned, and a few weeks later I had forgotten about all my plans to grow. What do you think I'm lacking? It is consistency.
Arsenal football coach, Arsene Wenger said "When you look at people who are successful, you will find that they aren't the people who are motivated, but have consistency in their motivation." Are you stopping short of the finish line? Consistency is the difference between failure and success, excellence and mediocrity. Consistency births excellence, excellence, thus is not an act but a habit. Almost everything we'll accomplish will be a result of our daily habits. Our daily habits is the key to our future. You can predict your future by your daily habits and practices, the things you repeatedly do.
The successful person has the daily habit of doing the things that failures don’t like to do. When you make the right choices and do it consistently over time, it can make a huge difference in your life. You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. That means developing great habits. That's the principle of consistency. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day. Over time that daily crossing becomes a habit. And ultimately, people do not decide their future; they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.
Leadership can't be fabricated. If it is fabricated and rehearsed, you can't fool the guys in the locker room. So when you talk about leadership, it comes with performance. Leadership comes with consistency.
Seed : The key to your future is your daily habits.
