TITLE : THE POWER OF CONSISTENCY
I Corinthians 15:58 ISV
"Therefore, my dear brothers, be consistent, steadfast unmovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that the work that you do for the Lord isn't wasted"
Consistency is a key factor to success, growth & leadership. It is a wise investment of time. It is the foundation of virtue. Consistency is the paste jewel that only cheap men cherish. If there is one thing that will help each of us fulfill our vision or to become the man or woman of God that God wants us to be, its “consistency”. I am convinced that the biggest reason that many people never grow into a place of maturity, reach their full potential, where they can be really used by God is that they are inconsistent in their walk with the Lord.
What does consistency mean to you?
Consistency is a degree of firmness, persistence, correspondence, steadfast adherence to the same principles, purpose, course or form. It is a pattern of sticking with one way of thinking or acting. Being consistent means you're immovable, predictable, constant and firm.
Consistency is is one of the most important qualities every true leader must have. To be a leader, you must be consistent. Without this steadfastness, consistency your vision becomes blurred. Consistency is not a concept; it's a personal discipline. It takes discipline and self denial to be consistent. It's not what we do once in a while that shapens our lives, it's what we do consistently. We are what we repeatedly do. Success I believe doesn't just happen. You have to be intentional about it, and that takes consistency. In fact success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamental principles.
I am sure you have had leaders that were very consistent, as well as, others that were inconsistent. Consistency is very important as a leader. The consistency is very important in the leader because it creates stability and trust in the followers. People love consistency. Whether it's a store or a restaurant, they want to come in and see what you are famous for. When a leader is consistent, the followers know exactly what to expect from their leaders. Consistency doesn’t mean leaders can’t grow, progress, and change; it just means leaders need to behave in a similar manner in given situations. Growth is very important to being a good leader.
It’s an easy thing to do to become inconsistent. Life’s pressures and the events of everyday living can so easily draw us away from where our focus should be. Life has a way of filling every minute of your day beginning from the time you awake in the morning. Have you ever had to argue with yourself as to whether you would open your eyes or not in the morning? I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I have had to force this old body of flesh out of the bed at times, in fact, most of the time. There is just something un-natural about having to get up before the chickens every morning. Didn’t God create us just a little higher than the chickens? If He did, then why do they get to sleep later and go to bed earlier than we do? Sometimes I envy those chickens until I remember where they are destined to become someone’s dinner. Lolz
There are times when my alarm goes off in the morning that I just want to turn it off and forget the whole thing, at least for a few more hours. But I have that marvelous little invention that I love so much. It has added so much more peace and rest to my life and almost makes the alarm clock bearable. That little invention is the “Snooze Button”! Hahahaha. That alarm goes off and I reach over to hit that little snooze button, then the argument begins. I start arguing with my eyes. “All right, which of you is going to be first to open this morning.” Not me”, says the left eye. “Not me either, says the right eye. “I was the first one open yesterday, it’s left’s turn today.”
It pays to be consistent.
Seed : We are what we repeatedly do.
