TITLE : Passion - Catalyst For Leadership 4
Psalms 119 : 139 "My zeal (passion) has consumed me..." Emphasis added mine
Revelation 3:19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent"
Being passionate is important in life. Passions give us purpose, but more than that, they make us feel that we have purpose in our lives. Being passionate isn't just about knowing – it's also about feeling. Passionate people lead significantly different lives from their less-than-enthusiastic counterparts.
HOBBY AND PASSION
Most people confuse passion to mean hobby. It might be that through this exploration. You fall head over heels in love with something you are engrossed with. Your passion is not the same as your hobby. But now you have to ask yourself a question: who would benefit from this or even pay for this. People pay for passion not hobby (what you love to do at leisure). Passion solves problem in the world. Do you have that kind of passion you're willing to give up anything for? Your passion is whatever gives you joy and deep satisfaction. Does anything give you joy? If so, that's your passion. Passion is finding something yo like to do so much that you'd gladly do it for nothing and if you do it very well, someday people will be glad to pay you for it.
Your passion is really your uniqueness.
HOW CAN I FIND MY PASSION?
About a week ago, I started writing about the necessity of passion. This post, of course, begged the obvious question from several readers: “What do I do if I don’t know what my passion is?,” how can I be passionate?
There isn’t a tried and true recipe for finding one’s passion. You can’t just sit down, take a test, and suddenly know where your passion and drive are. Instead, you have to find it, and that can be an amazing journey in and of itself.
But to tap into your passion, you have to know what you want. Look for clues. You’d think something as big as a life passion would be easy to identify, but often it’s not.
Ask yourself the following questions?
1.What do you sing about?
2.What do you cry about?
3.What do you dream about?
The first two questions speak to what touches you at a deep level today. The third answers what will bring you fulfillment tomorrow. The answers to these questions can often help people discover their true passion. While everybody can possess passion, not everyone takes the time to discover it.
Take some time to reflect on these questions :
If you inherited so much money that you would never have to work again, what would you do with your time?
What would you never give up because you love it so much?
What are you naturally good at—so good that other people compliment you?
When others consult you for advice, what do they ask you about?
What is your motive? Money or selfless service.
What motivates or inspires you?
What are you curious about?
How much are willing to sacrifice?
What do you do better than anything else?
Here are some tips worth following if you’re trying to find your passion but haven’t quite discovered it yet. When you finally discover a passion, you’ll know it – maybe not at first, but when you start digging in a bit. You’ll have this deep craving to do it again and again. You’ll want to learn more and more about it, and you’ll find yourself thinking about it and talking about it to others.
