TITLE : The Power & Discipline Of Vision 9
Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish (show lack of discipline or lack of focus)." Emphasis added mine
In the last two episodes I started sharing with you the necessity of identifying and developing a specific gift that will attract people to you. Finding your discipline means to be so good in area that people can't ignore you. Your area of unique gifting is your area of discipline. The gift of a leader is what attracts great personality to him. Understanding your purpose and vision is the key to identifying your discipline.
Proverbs 18:16 says "A man's gift makes room for him" (NKJV). What you were designed to be known for is your gift not education or the degrees you earn in school. It is this gift that will enable you to fulfill your vision as a leader.
The second part of Proverbs 18:16 says, "A man's gift opens doors for him bringing him access to important people" (ISV).
The message translation says "A gift gets attention; it buys the attention of eminent people. The key to success is your gift or discipline. Many people don't realize that the gift they're sitting on is loaded. No matter how big the world or where you are is, there's a place for you in it when you discover and manifest your gift. Leaders must discover a sense of meaning or purpose( discipline) in life. Leadership isn't impossible without a discovery of one's unique purpose, vision. Purpose is the innate sense of knowing why you exist or were born while vision is the ability to see or capture in your heart your purpose unfolding.
How do I find my purpose / discipline??
Your temperament and/or personality type corresponds and contribute to your calling and purpose. If you believe you are called to be a psalmist or minstrel for the Lord but you have no skill or gift to sing, compose, or play an instrument, then you are greatly mistaken.
From teenage years, I knew I had leadership ability and love to inspire, teach, and counsel but had no gifting in the areas of construction, engineering, literature, electrical. I constantly think about leadership, vision, purpose, and how I can help release people to their destiny and pursue their personal vision!
Your spiritual Gifts point to your purpose
The gifts of the Spirit found in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. I notice i happen to move in the revelation gifts - words of wisdom and knowledge more than any other gift because those are the two supernatural gifts I need most to accomplish my role and purpose in life. If your redemptive gift (Romans 12:4-7) is to be an exhorter of others so they can fulfill their purpose, then the gift of prophecy may be very strong. If you are in a vocation in which you are constantly in situations that allow you to share the gospel and win people to Christ, then you'd probably move more in healing gifts, miracles, the gift of faith, or discerning of spirits.
If your life doesn’t transcend living for yourself or pleasure, then you are already dead!
